Getting Body Corporate Approval in Brisbane
Most Brisbane apartment buildings are managed under a body corporate, and your car bay is typically either part of your lot or an exclusive-use area allocated to it. Because the Kookaburra is freestanding and needs no drilling or permanent fixing to the slab, walls or ceiling, it is generally treated as a removable chattel rather than a structural alteration — which is usually a much simpler conversation with a committee.

Will It Fit Your Brisbane Garage?
The single most important measurement is ceiling clearance. The Kookaburra needs a minimum of 2.1m, and its adjustable legs cover a 2.05–2.35m total unit height. Brisbane's newer inner-city towers around Newstead, South Brisbane and Hamilton often have generous basement clearance, while older walk-ups in Paddington, Toowong and Coorparoo can be tighter — and services like pipes, ducting and sprinkler heads sometimes cut into usable height.

Brisbane Humidity, Storms and Basement Damp
Brisbane's subtropical climate is harder on stored belongings than most people expect. Summer humidity, storm-season water ingress and poorly ventilated basement car parks are a bad combination for cardboard boxes left on a concrete floor.
The Kookaburra's electrocoated steel finish is intended to improve corrosion resistance, and its raised design keeps everything well clear of the floor, which may reduce exposure to minor pooling and run-off. It is not a waterproof or sealed unit, so we do not recommend it for items that cannot tolerate any moisture at all.
